Skills Support for the Unemployed

Skills Support for the Unemployed is a government-funded programme that helps people who are unemployed and who are struggling to find work or an apprenticeship because they lack key skills.

As one of the agencies delivering SSU support, Get SET Academy can help you to gain those vital skills. We’ll work with you to create a personal development plan – a route-map to take you from where you are now to where you want to be.

We offer a wide range of courses that respond to the needs of employers. In other words, we’ll help you to gain the skills that give you the best chance of securing the job you need.

Examples include:

  • Digital skills
  • Employability
  • Confidence
  • Presentation
  • Customer service
  • Business administration
  • Project management
  • and many others…

Participation in the programme is free.

The government’s Skills Funding Agency notes that eligible learners must be “aged 19 or over, unemployed; in receipt of state benefits; looking for work, and require skills training to help them enter work.”

We deliver the programme in the North West of England, in Lancashire and Greater Manchester. If you are outside this area, we will be happy to refer you to another agency.
