Employability Training

Employability covers a wide range of topics but it will usually begin with a personal development plan.

Having taken account of your background, objectives and ambitions, we’ll help you to work to a plan that is realistic and achievable. Crucially, it will be focused on giving you the skills you need to find rewarding employment.

To help you, we’ll also engage with local employers who may be able to offer work experience placements and factory tours. Through talks and involvement in our training programmes, they’ll also help you get a clearer picture of what skills and attitudes are most important to employers.

Together, we will also look at any other areas where you might feel you need to improve your chances of securing a job.

For example:

  • Job-search
  • Understanding what different job roles involve
  • CV and letter-writing
  • Personal presentation
  • Interview skills
  • Understanding work placement opportunities
  • Using local support services – e.g. childcare

Functional Skills

If a lack of certain key skills is getting in your way – for example, a language barrier or a lack of basic qualifications in English and/or maths, then we can certainly help. We offer free, accredited courses in English, Maths and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL.)

Eligibility

The government’s Skills Funding Agency notes that eligible learners must be “aged 19 or over, unemployed; in receipt of state benefits; looking for work, and require skills training to help them enter work.”
