Skills Support for Redundancy (SSR)

SSR is related to the Skills Support for the Workforce programme, but it is aimed specifically at people who are have recently been made redundant, or who face a realistic risk of being made reductant.

The scheme is designed to offer a fast-track route to developing additional transferable skills, so that you are well equipped to return quickly to the world of work or, if you prefer, self-employment.

The support is available to individuals or to complete teams / workforces, and it can take the form of accredited courses and specially tailored learning programmes.

Planning Ahead

An important part of our support is to help you plan ahead: to think about what you want to do next. That could be, for example:

  • Finding a similar job with another employer
  • Re-training and seeking a new, better paid job
  • Starting up your own new business

Whatever you want to do, we will work with you one a one-to-one basis to help you plan your next steps. We’ll give you independent advice and help you to get a clear sense of the new skills you’ll need to support your new aspirations. And, of course, we can also help you to develop those new vocational skills through a personalised training plan.

The support is free.
