Retraining

If you’re in a dead-end job or a role that doesn’t suit you, re-training could open up a whole new range of opportunities for you. The same is true if you’re in an organisation that’s making redundancies or that’s at risk of closure.

New skills are a pathway to a new, more secure future, and at Get SET Academy, we can help you get them. Read on for more details of our various programmes, offering a choice of bespoke and fully accredited courses.

Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW)

SSW is a national programme designed to help workers in existing jobs to move into more rewarding and more highly-skilled roles.

We’ll work with you and your employer to identify what skills you most need to develop and then we’ll develop a personal learning programme to help you to get them. That could be through standard, accredited courses or through specially tailored programmes that relate specifically to your role and employer requirements.

It’s all backed by one-to-one mentoring, advice and guidance to keep you firmly on the road to a better future.

Skills Support for Redundancy (SSR)

SSR is a sub-project related to Skills Support for the Workforce (above) but it is aimed specifically at people who are have recently been made redundant, or who face a realistic risk of being made reductant. The support is free.

The scheme is designed to offer a fast-track to developing additional transferable skills, so that participants are well equipped to return quickly to the world of work. The support is available to individuals or to complete teams / workforces, and it can take the form of accredited courses and specially tailored learning programmes.

Accredited Courses

We offer accredited courses that produce widely-recognised qualifications in a range of job-related subjects. The range is very extensive, covering everything from general digital skills to courses that are specific to a single profession.

Examples include the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), digital marketing, business administration, team leading, early years education and first aid at work. Please see our course pages for more details.

ESF Courses

We deliver a number of courses funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency and the European Social Fund (ESF). These focus on three of the main applications in the Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

These are some of the most commonly used software packages in the world and becoming familiar with them can certainly help to improve your career mobility. Please see our individual course pages for more detail about course content and durations.
